Herb Washington
Herb was the "Designated Runner" for the mid 1970s Oakland A's World Championship teams. I sent him three customs but he sent back a 1975 Topps. November 3, 2012 Nice Surprise....Wayne Comer

It's always nice to get back a return you thought you would never see again. Mailed this one out back on April 26 of this year. Looking at his return rate on SCN, I knew it would take some time to get it back.

Wayne Comer
Wayne was originally signed by the Washington Senators in 1962. He was traded in 1963 to the Detroit Tigers and played with them in 1967 and 1968. He was drafted by the Seattle Pilots in the 1968 Expansion Draft and was their regular outfielder in 1969. He later played for the Senators and finished his career back with the Tigers in 1972.

October 27, 2012 Custom Cards

I haven't been posting any successes TTM because I haven't had any time to send out requests for autographs. Any I post now will be the from previous mailings. I have been busy making cards for other collectors. Some are for TTM and others are for collectors who want cards of players from their favorite teams who never had cards made by Topps or Fleer.

Bob from South Carolina wanted me to make up some Gary Peters cards

Seth from Illinois collects Cardinals and wanted some Rookie Cards made up

Chuck from Indiana collects White Sox and wanted certain cards with the Rookie trophy and Rookie Stars logo on the front.

Jay Johnstone
I had gotten Jay Johnstone back two months ago and in a note he asked if I could make a Cubs and Dodgers card for him. I made those two up and added a Phillies and another Angels card using a nice B&W photo of him making contact in the batting cage.

Got back two returns today....

Bobby Knoop
Bobby was the regular second baseman for the California Angels in the 1960s. He and Jim Fregosi were a good combination.

Mike Rollyson
Mike was listed on the spring training roster of the 1969 Seattle Pilots, though I can't find anything on BaseballReference.com regarding his pitching record. he also played basketball and baseball at the University of Florida in the mid 1960s

UPDATE 10/27/2012  Thanks to Keith Olbermann who informed me that "Rollyson never pitched an inning of pro ball. He was invited in by the Pilots while still a student, and when he didn't make it, apparently he went back to college! "

Today I got back one return......

Paul Click
Paul Click never pitched in the major leagues but he was picked from the California Angels by the Seattle Pilots in the 1968 Expansion Draft. Mr Click is currently a photographer in the LA area.

October 17, 2012 John Thibdeau Passes Away

Today I got an email from the son of onetime Red Sox minor league pitcher John Thibdeau saying that his Dad had passed away yesterday. He saw my custom cards of his Dad that he signed for me and wanted to know if I could send him the photos for the funeral on Saturday. I told him the images I used were small but I sent him the photos via email and he was very happy. As a shot in the dark, I asked a friend of mine named Keith  if he had any images of John Thibdeau and sure enough he came up with a beautiful color image of him with the Louisville Colonels. I sent the image to John's son and he replied that his Mom was blown away by the image.

Even though Mr Thibdeau never pitched in the major leagues, he did make it to a 1969 Topps "Red Sox Rookie Stars" card he shared with Joe Lahoud, so his name will live forever.

October 3, 2012 Two Back Today

October 2, 2012 Ray Washburn

Ray Washburn
Mr Washburn pitched for the St Louis Cardinals and Cincinnati Reds from 1961 to 1970. His best season was in 1968 when he won 14 games with 8 losses. On September 18, 1968, he threw a no-hitter against the San Francisco Giants but what is weird is that the previous day, Gaylord Perry threw a no-hitter against the Cardinals. Back to back no-hitters. In 1969 he was traded to the Reds for another no-hit pitcher, George Culver.
