May 10, 2013 Two Back Today

Got back two requests today.......both were catchers.

Chris Krug
Chris Krug caught for the Chicago Cubs in 1965 and 1966 and San Diego Padres in 1969. Here is an interesting note from Wiki......

Krug returned to college, earned his degree, and became a landscape artist after his playing days ended. At least one example of his work has been seen by millions of moviegoers and tourists since---it was Krug who designed the cornfield ballfield made famous in the Kevin Costner film Field of Dreams.

Very cool

Ken Suarez
Mr Suarez came up to the major leagues with the KC Athletics in 1965. He was drafted by the Indians in the 1967 minor league draft and stayed with them off and on until 1971. He finished his career with the Texas Rangers in 1973.

April 27, 2013 Terry Fox ......It Took A Year

Got a nice surprise in the mail box today when I got a return from a TTM request I mailed out about the same time last year.........

Terry Fox
Mr Fox pitched for the Milwaukee Braves, Detroit Tigers and Philadelphia Phillies in the 1960s. I'll guess that my request got lost inside Mr Fox's house as he is usually a quick signer. He also added 3 custom cards of his own and asked for copies of my cards.

Monday April 22, 2013 Team Cards

Keith from NYC wanted some cards made of the 1962 Colt 45s team and the missing 1968 Topps team cards.

As I was making the Colt 45s card, I figured I should make a team card of the 1962 Mets too. The problem is I could not find a color Mets team photo, everything was in black and white. To solve that problem I used Photoshop to colorize a black and white team photo and use it to make the card.......

COLOR THE PHOTO AND REMOVE THE BACKGROUND

DROP THE TEAM PHOTO ONTO THE TEAM CARD TEMPLATE.........VOILA

Since I was on a team card kick I started making 1969 team cards.......

I copied the colors used on the regular cards......though I think the Cincinnati Reds with a blue front looks weird. I may have to change that......
